Shorpy Saturday – Fountain of Ice: 1904

By Jeffrey Buck

We seem to be experiencing a mild winter this year in Detroit. We still have yet to see snow like what is depicted below in the photograph. This is the second snapshot of the grand frozen fountain on Washington (We did finally get hit with some snow last night), this time with a few school children.

Take a look at the photograph entitled “Fountain of Ice: 1904“:

Detroit circa 1904. “Fountain of ice, Washington Boulevard.” 8×10 inch dry plate glass negative, Detroit Publishing Company.
