What most know as the Detroit Opera House was not the original. Even this building, shown below, isn’t the original. The original or Old Detroit Opera House was destroyed by a fire and replaced by the building you see below in the photograph. The theatre on Grand Circus Park that now bears the name was designed by C. Howard Crane as the Capital Theatre in 1922.
