Shorpy Saturday – Factory Air: 1912

By Jeffrey Buck

I love architecture, especially the magnificent architecture we have here in Detroit. People always say, “they don’t build them like they used to.” and I think that’s particular correct when it comes to industrial buildings. Auto factories designed by Albert Kahn are quite different than what we build in 2013. So enjoy this industrial splendor built in 1912.

Take a look at the photograph entitled “Factory Air: 1912“:

“A.J. Smith Construction Co.” An industrial building somewhere in Detroit circa 1912. 8×10 inch glass negative, Detroit Publishing Company.
